Covent Garden tea and cake shop discovery

“…brushed with a light vanilla sugar syrup to make the cupcakes extra tasty and super-duper moist for added sensory pleasure.”

The plan for today was simply to go to The London Transport Museum, but along the way I couldn’t help stopping and taking photos of the little tea shops and cupcake shops that I discovered.

Following on from yesterday’s post about my Tea & Cake reviews, it looks as though I will be starting in Covent Garden.  Today I found Candy Cakes, who seem to have a number of outlets in and around the South East. Ella’s Bakehouse (whose cakes are baked by Lorraine Pascale and her team).  This obviously means that I will be going back to this quaint little place as soon as possible to taste…okay, eat the Red Velvet Cupcake which is ‘brushed with a light vanilla sugar syrup to make the cupcakes extra tasty and super-duper moist for added sensory pleasure.’

I also discovered Tea Palace, tea specialists located in the  Market Building, Covent Garden. Although they do not serve cake or Afternoon Tea they do offer bespoke blends. A unique gift idea I think!

Last but not least The Tea House, who celebrate their thirtieth year (1982 – 2012). Situated on Neal Street, they offer a vast selection of teas from around the world. They also sell a wide selection of teapots, displayed beautifully on a back wall.
