Best buttercream recipe

There are many different recipes for buttercream around and I have tried a few but this one has to be the best and most simple to make.

A lady, on a stall at Cake International, kindly passed on her knowledge to me.


250g butter
500g icing sugar

1. First blend the butter by itself for 2 minutes until pale and creamy.
2. Then gradually add the icing sugar a bit at a time and blend for approximately 7 minutes until pale and fluffy.

That’s it!

You then have you base to add your flavouring or the colour desired.

How simple is that? What’s even better is the light sweet taste. Mmmm!

    I do find that the Italian Butter cream recipe from my new book TEA WITH BEA (won’t write the recipe, to avoid being sued lol )is goooooood !! Especially if you add warm peanut butter. The main reason i enjoy making ( and of course eating ) this butter cream is because it is so much fun to make. It feels a bit like a science experiment , the way you need to add each ingredients. Ooooooo the pouring of the syrup; making sure you don’t hit the whisk, my sister loved it too.
